The earnings-related allowance of a wage earner is calculated
on the basis of established pay for the period preceding unemployment, with the
minimum length of the period being the time required under the employment
requirement. Holiday pay and holiday compensation are deducted from wage income.
Additional deductions include a sum corresponding to the wage earner's
employment pension and unemployment insurance contributions as well as the daily
allowance contribution for sickness insurance. The deduction for employment
requirements met in 2010 is 3.5 per cent. As concerns seasonal workers, the
income taken into consideration is the income for the 12 months preceding
unemployment. Paid leave on the basis of hours saved in a working hours bank is
taken into consideration when determining the allowance, while money deposited
to or withdrawn from the working hours bank is not.
There are three ways for determining the
benefits paid by the unemployment fund:

When converting monthly wages to daily wages and vice versa, a
month is considered to consist of 21.5 days.
Earnings-related allowance comprises the basic
component, the earnings-related component and the child increases
-
The amount of the basic component is confirmed
annually.
-
The earnings-related component is 45 per cent of the
difference between the daily wage and the basic component. If the monthly
salary is more than 105 times the amount of basic daily allowance, the
earnings-related component for the exceeding sum is 20 per cent.
-
The child increase may be received for children under 18 in
your care (for a maximum of three children).
-
The full earnings-related allowance with child increases
can at maximum be 90 per cent of the daily wage on which the allowance is
based, but nevertheless equal to the basic allowance including child
increases. If you are entitled to the increased earnings-related component or
the earnings-related component for transition assistance, the full
earnings-related allowance with child increases may at maximum equal the daily
wages on which the allowance is based.
