THE FEDERATION OF UNEMPLOYMENT FUNDS IN FINLAND (TYJ)

Welcome to the website of the Federation of Unemployment Funds in Finland (TYJ)!

In Finland there are 32 unemployment funds for wage earners and two for entrepreneurs, all of which belong to the Federation of Unemployment Funds in Finland (TYJ). TYJ provides information on general matters concerning earnings-related unemployment benefits and promotes the work of the funds. TYJ makes proposals and issues statements for the development of unemployment security and cooperates with similar organisations in other Nordic countries.

The benefits paid by the unemployment funds are the earnings-related allowance paid to the unemployed and the job alternation compensation granted to those on job alternation leave. Applications for the benefits are made to the unemployment funds; all applications, including attachments and certificates, are always processed by the claimant's own unemployment fund. Unemployment funds also provide counselling regarding membership and the eligibility for and payment of daily allowance.

Do not send applications or pay slips to the Federation of Unemployment Funds in Finland. Send all applications and documents to your unemployment fund, because that is where they are processed. If you have any questions about your benefits, please consult your unemployment fund. Your unemployment fund will also advise you in matters concerning membership and the reception and payment of benefits.
