Taxation

Earnings-related allowance is taxable, pay-as-you-earn income.

The unemployment fund receives its members’ tax information directly from the tax administration in the beginning of the year. However, when the tax rate is originally set for wages, there is a minimum tax rate of 25 % while claiming allowance.

You can request the tax administration to send you a tax card for benefits. In such a case, your earnings-related allowance is taxed at the rate indicated in your tax card with no minimum rate. Send your original revised tax card to your unemployment fund.
